Baby

I went to my sister's baby shower today. I had a wonderful time.

After the baby shower, I went to my sister's house and just bummed with her. For the first time, she uncovered her belly for me. I was just touching it all over (not to sound weird) and I felt it kick for the first time. I kept looking at her and it's becoming real. There's a baby growing inside of her. I asked her if she was ever fascinated, but I forgot what she said (haha).

A baby.. moving around her belly. Wow.

And then I wondered, how was the experience for Mary to bear Jesus? Was the pregnancy way different from having her other children? Did His eyes glow with flames as a child? What was it like taking care of Jesus? Did He speak to God as a baby? What was it like to bear the Savior of the World in your womb? How does it feel to have your son die for your sins?

Lord, Help us be well with our souls.

It is Well with My Soul
Words by Horatio G. Spafford, 1873
Music by Philip P. Bliss, 1876

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

The words to this hymn was written after two major traumas in Spafford's life. The first was the Great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially. Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford's daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford's wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram: "SAVED ALONE." Several weeks later, as Spafford's own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, he was inspired to write these words.

Bliss originally named the tune "Ville de Havre" after the ship on which Spafford's four girls perished, the SS Ville de Havre.

It is documented that in 1881 he and his wife moved to Jerusalem and founded an outreach mission to serve the poor kown as the "American Colony." He died October 16, 1888 in Jerusalem, Israel, of Malaria.

March 10, 2000

Nine years ago (March 10, 2000), I understood and realized what sin was and what Jesus did for me on the cross.

It wasn't until 5 years later during my freshman year in college that I wanted to make Him Lord of my life during a one on one bible study with a korean woman that I met through my cousin, Albert (2005).

Two years later, I wanted to proclaim Christ's life in me by baptism (April 8, 2007).

2008 was when I started to record my prayers and learned how to pray regularly.

It's 2009. I am being blown away by His grace, mercy, wrath, holiness, love, wisdom, creation, size, sovereignty, everything that He is.

I'm almost 24. He is still wooing me and loving me. I am amazed at who He is. I pray that He will continue to show me who He is. I'm sure by the time I'm 80-100 years old (however long I live), God will still want to blow me away! Amazing grace, Amazing God. Words cannot describe and give justice to who He is.

Simon Yu

He's back for spring break. =)

Captivate Me, Jesus.

Your face is beautiful
And Your eyes are like the stars
Your gentle hands have healing
There inside the scars
Your loving arms they draw me near
And Your smile it brings me peace
Draw me closer oh my Lord
Draw me closer Lord to Thee

Captivate us, Lord Jesus
Set our eyes on You
Devastate us with Your presence
Falling down
And rushing river, draw us nearer
Holy fountain consume us with You
Captivate us Lord Jesus, with You

Your voice is powerful
And Your words are radiant bright
In Your breath and shadow
I will come close and abide
You whisper love and life divine
And Your fellowship is free
Draw me closer O my Lord
Draw me closer Lord to Thee

Let everything be lost in the shadows
Of the light of Your face
Let every chain be broken from me
As I’m bound in Your grace
For Your yoke is easy, Your burden is light
You’re full of wisdom, power and might
And every eye will see You

Mom

Even though it's not Mother's Day yet, I have great gratitude towards her.

Writing about her in a blog wouldn't do God justice of how He has used her to bless me.
Thank You, God.
